Director / Instructor
Born and raised in Arkansas City, Terri planted her roots and stayed to make a lasting impression in Cowley County. She began performing at a young age, under instructor Billie Gregg and then on to Sheryl Reinking.
With their coaching and her determination she went on to earn consecutive titles of "Little Miss Kansas" and "Junior Miss Kansas", also being named as a top 10 finalist in the Junior Miss America Pageant. She was a well known twirler with the United States Twirling Association, being named to the "Who's Who Among the United States Twirlers Association.”
After graduation from Arkansas City High School, she decided to continue sharing her passion for twirling and dancing and opened "Weston's School of Dance" Later she was granted the opportunity to collaborate with Susan Speer, Ark City, in the opening of "The Entertainer's Dance Academy" After taking only a few years off , Terri re-emerged onto the dance scene with her own studio "Ark City Dance"
After many years of touching people’s lives, the opportunity of a lifetime came about. In 2004, her life long dream was achieved when Terri and her husband Jeff opened the doors to the brand new facility of Ark City Dance in downtown Ark City.
Terri is not only the Owner/Director of Ark City Dance, but takes an active role in the community. She has contributed year after year to the Arkalalah Festival in Ark City, being the Chairperson for the Queen Alalah Coronation. She also collaborated with Beta Sigma Phi in developing the Miss Ark City Pageant and has served as the Executive Director of the Miss Walnut Valley Pageant, which is affiliated with the Miss Kansas and Miss America Organizations. She has also donated countless hours to choreographing for local choir and show groups.
Her dancers have performed for many local groups and events. In November, 2005, 2009 and 2011 and again in 2015 Ark City Dance was represented by over 20 dancers in the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade in New York City.
Terri has a unique yet successful approach to teaching dance. She advocates discipline and respect, while also making it her top priority to create a fun and comfortable atmosphere, where children will learn and grow, walking away with nothing less than knowing what it means to have passion.
Instructor / Jazz, Tap, Hip Hop
Jennifer was born and raised in Arkansas City. She has followed gracefully in her mother's footsteps, spending much of her youth dancing and competing. A 1995 graduate of Arkansas City High School, she decided to stay close to home and took a dance scholarship to Cowley County Community College, where she danced under the direction of Lana Sleeper. She soon determined that dance was the life she wanted to live and began teaching beside her mother, Terri Schroeder.
Jennifer has taught dance classes at Cowley County Community College and choreographed for the College Musicals and the Cowley County Singers.
She keeps up on all the latest and greatest steps and techniques by attending dance workshops and being instructed by some of the most well known and talented dancers of all time, such as Gregg Russell, Frank Hatchett, Robbie Mackey, Sarah Jo Fazio, Kenneth Green, Gil Stroming, Mike Minery, and Dan Karaty, to name a few.
She has been a driving force in the creation of the Ark City Dance Company (ACDC) and has not only lead her students to National Titles, but she has been awarded National and Regional Choreography Awards.
INSTRUCTOR: Combo, Jazz
Paige is no stranger to Ark City Dance. Like Terri and Jennifer, she was also born and raised in Arkansas City. She enrolled in Ark City Dance at the young age of 3 and continued with the program though out her elementary, middle school, and high school years.During Paige’s 15 years as a student with AC Dance she was on the Competition Troupe for 9 consecutive years, winning (team) Nationals in 2009 and 2010 in tap. She also traveled to NYC to dance in the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade in 2009.
Paige was a member of The Ark City High School Danceline for four years, and served as team captain in 2009-2010. After graduating high school in 2010, Paige continued her education at Cowley County Community College on both a studio dance, and Margaret Weston scholarship.
Paige is very excited to be a new instructor at Ark City Dance, where her impressive dance career began.
Instructor: Jazz, Lyrical, Musical Theatre, Contemporary
Raised in Derby, KS ,Shaelynn was first introduced to Ark City Dance under the theater dance program at Cowley College under Jennifer Blatchford and couldn't be happier to be back assisting and now teaching at Ark City Dance. With a background in multiple dance styles with an emphasis in jazz,contemporary, and musical theater as well as pageantry as she is the current Miss Prairie Rose, Shaelynn has not only performed professionally in Musical Theater at places such as Music Theater of Wichita, The Crown Uptown, and The Forum Theater, but has also traveled and performed in North Carolina as well Tennessee as well.Currently Shaelynn also works for Talent on Parade National Dance Competition as well as continuing to travel around and choreograph around the state of Kansas and Oklahoma.Shaelynn has recently trained in the dance department at Wichita State University under Sabrina Vasquez and Cheyla Clawson studying Horton style,and was also a former Wichita State University Dance Team Member. She continues to train by traveling and attending conventions and workshops and has taken classes under the direction of choreographers such as Mia Micheals, Mandy Moore,Shane Sparks, Tyce Diorio, and Brian Friedman, as well as Diablo Dance Company's Shauna Martinez, and Alex Michael Stoll who was recently seen on last years tony's dancing with Katherine Zeta Jones. Shaelynn has won multiple choreography within the past two years and is excited to continue her second year of working with the ACDC team.
Shaelynn wishes to expand her choreography nationally as well as to continue performing, and plans to continue her own training in order to better her students
Instructor: Hip Hop
With 17-years training and experience in Jazz, Ballet, Tap, Pom-Pon, Hip Hop, Lyrical and Musical Theatre, Sarah Bryant is excited to join the Ark City Dance family as a Hip Hop instructor. Bryant's training began at the Entertainers Dance Academy under the instruction of her mother, Susan Speer. At age 13, she began assisting in the studio as an instructor and choreographer.
During high school, Bryant was a member of the dance team and flag corps, serving as captain of each. She also was a dance chorus member in several musical theatre productions, taking on the role of dance manager her senior year.At age 17, Bryant started her second turn as assistant instructor, this time at Dance Master Studio in Arkansas City. On scholarship at Cowley College, Sarah joined the Tigerette "Performance Line," the school's competitive dance team. She also was a principal dancer in the production of Cowley College's "Camelot."
From 2005-2010, Bryant served as head coach and choreographer for the Arkansas City High School Purple Paws dance team. Beginning in 2006, Sarah began assisting the Arkansas City Arts Council with performing arts projects, including the after school program and a series of "Dancing with Our Stars" workshops. Since then, she has served as guest choreographer for Arkalalah Coronation, Cowley College's Mr. Cinderfella, Arkansas City High School choir and theatre productions, and the Miss Walnut Valley Pageant.
Sarah's love of Hip Hop developed in during high school. To date, she has choreographed over a dozen Hip Hop routines and has infused her training into the fitness dance classes she has taught over the years.
Bryant is currently employed as Director of Marketing at Cowley College.
Instructor- Ballet II, Ballet III, Jazz
Donnette Rothweiler began her ballet training at a very young age with Marjorie Kelley and the Royal Academy of Dance, based in London, England. After eight years with Ms. Kelly and the Royal Academy, Donnette continued her dance training by traveling to New York and training with the most prestigious teachers of the time. Before entering college, Donnette enjoyed her summer performing at Disney World in Orlando, Florida. Donnette received a full dance scholarship throughout college and continued traveling and teaching across the country. After college, Donnette began choreographing for numerous companies and teaching master classes all over the country. Her dance and choreography credits include performances of, "The Nutcracker", " Swan Lake ", "Firebird" and "Giselle”, and “Urintown”. In her 18 years of teaching, Donnette has seen and done it all. This begins from the early days of her career as a magician assistant and modeling runway work, to recently being awarded the honor of Top Choreographer in Las Vegas. In this past year, Donnette's choreography was featured on MTV, VHI, ESPN, and Bravo. Miss Rothweiler is known for her fun loving attitude and the ability to spread the love of ballet across the country. Donnette is currently in her 16th year as Artistic Director for the The Edge Performing Arts Center and is on high demand as a teacher, judge, and choreographer.
